Arriving for check-in around 2:30 PM, we were greeted by friendly valet and bell staff who exuded warmth and professionalism, making us feel instantly welcome. To our delight, we were upgraded to a Deluxe King Pool View room on the third floor, a generous gesture reflecting the benefits of my lowly gold membership. The check-in process was smooth, and the bellman service was prompt and courteous, ensuring our luggage was efficiently taken care of. Valet service upon arrival was equally impressive, with staff ready to assist and provide us with a seamless transition into the luxurious experience that awaited us at the Waldorf Astoria.

The Waldorf Astoria delivered an exceptional service experience during our two-night stay, truly embodying the standards of a five-star property. One of the standout features was the curated experience for our dog Katsu, allowing us to dine comfortably at the hotel restaurant while ensuring Katsu was well looked after on the property.

The turndown service each evening was meticulously detailed, reflecting a level of attention that deeply impressed us. Valet service was equally commendable, with staff that were not only friendly but also very attentive, ensuring our needs were met promptly. The waitstaff at the hotel restaurants contributed to the overall stellar experience, exemplifying hospitality with every interaction. Every member of the team seemed genuinely invested in providing a memorable stay, further enhancing the luxurious atmosphere of the hotel.

Located in Room 320 in the north wing, this spacious accommodation features a contemporary coastal aesthetic that reflects the warm ambiance of Southern California. Guests are greeted with plush furnishings, including a king-sized bed adorned with fine linens, and a comfortable seating area that invites lounging while taking in the picturesque view of the pool area. It’s pretty well taken care of, with a maintenance crew that constantly checks and keeps the rooms clean, painted and refreshed.

Amenities in the Deluxe King Room enhance the overall experience, offering modern conveniences alongside luxurious touches. The room includes a large flat-screen television, a well-stocked minibar, and a coffee maker, ensuring that guests have access to refreshments at their fingertips. The beautifully designed bathroom features a deep soaking tub and a separate shower, both equipped with premium bath products, allowing for an indulgent spa-like experience. Additionally, the large shutter windows at the bathroom provide an abundance of natural light, while the private balcony offers an ideal spot to unwind with a drink while enjoying views of the serene pool. We had some fantastic views during the daytime and nighttime, and almost made it feel like we were in Hawaii.

Aesop toiletries are always a welcome sight at these luxury hotels, and the Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach did not disappoint. In addition, bathroom amenities are plentiful, with the staff providing any additional items that one may need during their stay. If there was anything to gripe about, it’s perhaps the shower pressure and the shower head. Perhaps they could revise or upgrade the shower experience to be more compliant with the stature of this hotel. Otherwise, everything else was fantastic.

This was one of my favorite hotel fitness centers to work out from, probably top 3 in my decade of reviewing hotels.

Our culinary journey began each morning with a breakfast that felt more like a celebration of the golden hour; the signature avocado toast, crowned with a shimmering poached egg and a delicate balsamic lace, was a masterpiece of local freshness, while the lobster omelet stood out as a decadent triumph and a definitive must-order for the discerning palate. As twilight descends, the space transitions into a sophisticated evening retreat, where the hum of the Pacific provides the soundtrack for an indulgent dinner of artisanal breads and truffle-scented fries that set a high bar for the seasonal, sea-to-table courses to follow.

We enjoyed stunning sunsets from their private balconies and unwinded by the infinity pool, where the horizon seamlessly merges with the Pacific Ocean. Nothing really beats SoCal sunsets at times. The beautifully designed grounds feature lush landscaping and pathways that lead to sandy beaches and vibrant coastal scenery, enriching the overall experience of this upscale destination.
